Suggested Activities for 12- 16 year olds.

1. Draw a picture of our Galaxy and position the stars chosen for the mission in relation to Earth.
   
   

2. Draw Commander Khan's starship from different angles: looking at it as it travels in space; a close-up view of part of the ship; a cut-away section through the ship showing inner decks.
   
   

3. Describe the job tasks that would be performed by the crew - and the skills that  they would need.
   
   

4. Describe what would happen to a human body if it was put into cryo.
   
   

5. Research what we know about space travel now.  How close are we to traveling at warp speed?
   
   

6. Describe how you think it would feel to be part of the crew.
   
   

7. Make a drawing of the ship that is to scale.  Decide what rooms would be inside it and how big they would be draw them into your picture.  If there are 20 people on board - what sort of living quarters would they have.

Suggested Activities for 12 - 16 year olds

1. Find out how refrigeration and freeze drying of food work.  How could the ship have fresh food 5 years after leaving Earth?
   
   

2. What nutritional elements are needed to keep the human body alive?  What would Nutritional Plaz look like, taste like, smell like? How would it be served to you?
   
   

3. What makes up Earth's atmosphere? How could the atmosphere on Matet be different, and still support humans?
   
   

4. What is meant by "no seasonal changes in climate?" Find out which places on Earth have the least seasonal changes in climate.  What would it be like if you lived in such a place?
   
   

5. Research the Egyptian gods that were the source of the names of the five planets.  What were their powers and cite an Egyptian myth about each one.
   
   

6. Imagine you are woken up after 5 years in Cryo.  What changes would you expect to see around you? How would your body have changed?
   
   

7. Describe how one of the crew members feels when he or she sees Matet for the first time.
